School Membership with Parents League of New York

Independent and private schools may submit a request for membership consideration with the Parents League of New York. Please read the requirements and submit the request form to begin the process for consideration.

To become a Parents League Member School, an independent and/or proprietary day or boarding school must be in existence for a minimum of five years. Applicants for School Membership must also be accredited by a regional association,  an ICAISA-affiliated accrediting association, or other international accrediting body with a recognized evaluation process that includes a self-study and site visit component. 

A preschool must be licensed with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene/Bureau of Child Care and be in existence for a minimum of five years.  PLNY strongly recommends that preschools hold membership with one or more  early childhood associations, including but not limited to NAEYC, AMS, AMI or Waldorf association, and gives preference to schools with recognized evaluation processes that include a self-study and site visit component. 

Steps for applying for membership:

  1. Confirm your school meets the criteria listed above.
  2. Complete the online School Membership Application
  3. Pay $125.00 application fee upon completion of the PLNY School Membership Application.  Payment can be made via Zelle by using finance@parentsleague.org as the identifier.
  4. Provide at least one letter of support from a professional colleague who knows your school well and can share substantive information regarding your school’s academic and extracurricular program, professional leadership, strategic direction and local and regional reputation.  Professional colleagues may email letters of support to Barbara H.   5. Once PLNY receives your completed application, we will contact your school to set up either a virtual or in-person site visit as we learn more about your institution

Annual membership dues are calculated based on student enrollment.
